Integrity of work
Plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, unauthorised collusion and identity substitution are breaches. Before assessment, students must be able to know the rules on citation and collaboration and the possible consequences of an infringement.
Use of artificial intelligence
Instructions for each assessment specify permitted, limited or prohibited uses of generative systems. Where use is permitted, the student must declare it and remains responsible for accuracy, sources and the work submitted. Undeclared use contrary to instructions is handled as a breach after a fair review.
Conflicts of interest and confidentiality
Examiners, moderators, board members and administrators declare any relevant link to a candidate, centre or decision. They recuse themselves where their impartiality may reasonably be questioned. Scripts, personal data and deliberations are accessible only to those who need them for their role.
Decisions and distinctions
A sanction must be based on facts disclosed to the person concerned, be proportionate and state the appeal route. AEES currently publishes no honorary distinction scheme. If such a scheme were adopted, it would remain separate from academic qualifications and could not be obtained through payment.
